Re: vDos-lfn build 2016.06.03

Hi James,

I think I have already fixed the FIND command in the latest build (2016.06.04). I will look at the other oddities you mentioned, but you can always stick with the stable vDos-lfn 2016.05.30 build if you like. In fact, vDos-lfn build 2016.05.30 has (slightly limited) bidirectional LPT4=CLIP support too compared with the original vDos 2015.11.01 or earlier.

Hi James,

Perhaps I should suggest to stick with vDos-lfn build 2016.05.30 for real work for now, which is the last build based on Jos' vDos 2015.11.01, so it should be considered stable. On the other hand, vDos 2016.06.01 was just released, so we probably need a test period in order to get everything working, though this should not take too long. Hope this helps.

Hi Wengier,

Yes, LPT4 = CLIP works in vDos-lfn build 2016.06.03, which is excellent. Many thanks for getting that fixed.

Some problems I've noted in this build (I haven't compared your earlier builds of the June version), using NB3 under Win7:

The NB "find" command now doesn't work. It is supposed to find all files matching the filespec on the current drive or the specified drive. This command always reports "not found" (with keymode 1; with the default keymode, the cursor just sits on the command line, or returns to the beginning of the command line, and there is no report).

On some occasions I haven't been able to identify, every other keystroke produces a pop-up from the NB Help system--it's what would happen if I went into Help (F1), chose "Options," and entered "DOS". See screenshot below. What causes this and how can I avoid it?

Another oddity is that at times, an ASCII 16 (right-pointing triangle) is displayed after every keystroke. In both these cases, abandoning vDos-lfn usually is required.

Cursor movement with the arrow keys is a bit slower than in the previous vDos versions (I've specified keydelay = 500 and keyinter = 20), *until* I rem those parameters. Then cursor movement speeds up considerably. Is that what you would expect?

Thanks for any remedies.

James
