Eudora uses a plain text (absolutely plain text) .MBX file and a binary .TOC ("Table Of Contents") file. So there's IN.MBX and IN.TOC, then OUT.MBX and OUT.TOC, and so on.
The .MBX file structure is derived from PINE, which is pure ASCII (I'm
told). The file, to be recognized, must end in two consecutive CR-LFs. The
