Title: RE: To Brian Henderson: XyWrite programmer needed

I'm sorry Del...I was hoping for an XPL macro writing assignment. Your message went right over my head. I have (almost) no idea what you're asking about (I'm such a loser...I don't deserve to be a member of this group).

But...now that the problem has been laid out, maybe someone who actually knows something could help you.

Subject: To Brian Henderson: XyWrite programmer needed

Brian,

I produce abstracts for a database.
Each file contains 50 abstracts.
Each abstract has field tags, such as 001, 012, 060, and 080.

This "Key" program uses a control file of 10,000 keywords to search certain
field tags (012 and 060) in each abstract and highlight the matches. Each
highlighted keyword can be left on (green highlight) or turned off (red
highlight) via a toggle key.

The "Afterkey" program inserts the green highlighted keywords into the 080
field at the end of each abstract.

Problem 1:
These programs are coded to run in DOS text mode at 132 x 25. I cannot get my
DELL computer with NVIDIA card to accept this setting.

Problem 2:
I need to expand the control file from 10,000 words to 999,000 words.

Problem 3:
Should I migrate these programs to the Windows version of XyWrite and get out
of DOS?

Thanks for your inquiry.

Del
