Re: Footnotes

The complaints about footnotes in XY and XW suggest less than a complete
familiarity with the potential of the programs. I have produced camera copy
for commercial publication of two books and various journals, sometimes
exporting to WFW 6.1 but, in the case of my _Medicine, Philosophy and
Religion in Ancient China_ (1995), entirely in XW. I find the placement of
footnotes (they support 3 independent sets) unproblematic, less problematic
than in WordPerfect.

I do run into one apparent problem that perhaps distracts some users. If you
are printing out drafts in which everything, including footnotes, is
double-spaced, the page divisions are poor, very much like what Peter Evans
describes. Once one switches to ordinary spacing for the footnotes (even
with double-spaced main text) the problem disappears.
