Neither -- if all you intend to do is run XyShell. The new XyShell
(to be included in a forthcoming release of the Jumbo U2) will be
powered by a *free* Rexx runtime module. (Note well: the Jumbo U2
will NOT "require" Rexx. Rexx pertains only to the subset of
routines known as XyShell.)

If you just want to experiment a bit, get your feet wet, so to
speak, the Interpretive edition, along with a good instructional
book (many available at amazon.com), is enough. The Development
edition has powerful debugging tools, but it's considerably more
expensive.

It's a cross-platform programming|scripting|macro language developed
by IBM. Easy to learn, especially if you already know another
language, such as Basic, PerfectScript (WordPerfect) or XPL. For an
introductory overview, visit here:
http://users.comlab.ox.ac.uk/ian.collier/Rexx/info.html. The
discussion is Unix-oriented, but applies equally to Rexx under
Windows, OS/2, etc.
