RE: Pre-Xy

Title: RE: Pre-Xy

Carl, the problem isn't that I can't find instructions on how to get my client to behave the way I want it to. After reading several sets of instructions on the subject I'm convinced I've already tried everything that's available (how does the old saw go...when all else fails, read the instructions). The problem seems to be that the client simply won't do what it's being told to do. Even setting it to ALWAYS send plain text in EVERY situation, it will STILL reply with RTF. The IT dept. guys say they don't know what's the matter (of course, they say that about most things around here). The only thing I can think of is that NT4 has some sort of problem with the latest generation of MS email protocols (although it's the only thing I can think of, I'm not sure I actually believe it). As one last experiment, from home where I'm currently using Outlook 2000 on a Win2K machine, I will reply to a plain text post and see if it shows up here plain. If it does, that will tell me that (at least, when conditions are perfect) MS can be made to act somewhat civilized.

I really wish I could fix this. I've seen the mess that some clients make of posts with RTF. It's an ugly mess of code and text that can take some of the pleasure out of simply reading what people here have to say.

BTW Carl, I collect quotes. Can I add this one to my file?
