Re: Icons in taskbar OT

I am not clear on how FireFox fits into this matter, but regarding
programme icons on the title bar and on the task bar, I have noted
that if I call up the DOS programme from a shortcut on the desktop,
I get the appropriate DOS programme icon. However, if I open a DOS
window and navigate to the appropriate subdirectory, and then load
the DOS programme, I get a generic DOS icon, i.e., a miniature screen
with a write background and a blue bar at the top. My OS is XP Pro.

I don't know if this bears on anything that is being said here.

Aside to Patricia: this is not about icons in the Quick Launch area of
the taskbar which show up fine. It's about the icon that's shown in the
leftmost part of the title bar of the DOS (i.e. Xy) window and in its
corresponding tab on the taskbar. At the moment, all I get is the C
prompt icon, no matter what nice customized Xy pictorial I assign to the
shortcut.
That's right. And for regular Xy, I get in the taskbar (under XP) a black
icon with white type representing the C:\ prompt, then the word EDITOR (which
may be truncated). But for TameXy, I get the custom Xy icon everywhere: quick
launch, taskbar, title bar. The Properties just say it launches:
C:\xy\Editor.exe, but it does call AUTOXY.NT instead of AUTOEXEC.NT, which
might make some sort of difference in this regard.
