Whatever your PDF app happens to be -- most users will have
Adobe Reader on their system, but I haven't messed with that
for a long time, and so don't really recall what it does or does
not do -- can't you change the font with it just before printing ?
On the other hand, I seem to recall that this could mess up the
pagination / layout on the document, compared to what you
originally intended when drafting it.

No, STARTUP.INT is fine. Just be sure that the command is positioned
AFTER any command that loads a printer (;PR;) file that might overwrite
default UF. (Or ... avoid this potential gotcha by putting DF
UF=fontname in SETTINGS.DFL.)
