Off topic: XP and internet

Chris, did you check if your cable modem and router are compatible with
XP? I've heard that XP is finicky about hardware; MicroSludge has, I
believe, a list somewhere on its site (if you dare go there; I don't) of
supported hardware. Did you try to copy your connectoid from the old to
the new machine, or did you re-create it on the new? I have no experience
of cable modems, but my brother has one and has had a terrible time with
his new ISP (old one went belly-up and the account was sold down the
river). Of course, he's on Mac, so it's probably the ISP's disdain of
anything that doesn't come out of Redmond.
