Peter:
Will XyWrite stay up if you hit Ctrl-Break while STARTUP.INT is
executing (and answer "Y"es to the PRompt)? You've got to be fast,
to catch it before the session crashes. When you succeed (you
eventually will), then try this: CAll STARTUP.INT, put the cursor at
the top of the file, command EX to insert an delta at top
of file, and SAve the file. Then issue each command in STARTUP.INT
manually, from the CMline. If XyWrite freezes at any point, kill the
session and restart. The next time, STARTUP.INT will EXit without
executing any commands (because of the you just added), but the
Xy session should stay up. Start issuing the startup commands
manually again. Keep doing this until you get through all of the
startup commands manually. Once you have a working session, you can
delete the at the top of STARTUP.INT and XyWrite will probably
load normally thereafter.
This is a glitch I've encountered from time to time under XP Pro. I
have no idea why it happens or how to prevent it, but the procedure
above has always resolved it. Should work for you, too -- unless
your glitch is different.
