On the other, since this particular wheel already exists in U2, why not just go with it?
Because Jon Pareles has something haywire in his system that makes it
not work. He and Robert have been trying to figure out what for a couple
of weeks now. So I was trying to give him a crutch to get work done
while he debugs his system. I THOUGHT I had explained all that in the
first post (where I erroneously used SX50). I adopted this from a
routine that I use to convert to WordPerfect, for which, ASAIK, there is
nothing in U2. (No reason why there should be, but I have a client who
uses nothing but.)
By the way, in your code, why are you tinkering with default EP?
It's not necessary with ERNV (ERase No Verify). But if it were
necessary, a well-behaved routine should save the user's default
value at the beginning and restore it on EXit:
>BX d ep=0,0,0,0,0,0,0Q2 ... BX d ep=Q2 .
Ah, thank you for that. I don't remember why I put that in in the first
place but assumed I had a reason (probably a steep assumption; and yes,
I know, I should have documented it). And your method is much more
elegant. Will save for future reference.
