If not WinZip -- something of a standard for Win users, though it is not free
-- you might want to consider using the other prevalent standards, PKZIP or
INFOZIP. Both have all the features you might ever need, and I believe that
they are free. Certainly the latter is, and there has been a free version of
PK. The free version I am using on 3 platforms (2.50) has not been revised
in quite some time, but I have found it entirely satisfactory. INFOZIP, on
the other hand, has had a number of revised versions come down the pike over
the last 4 years, and I have to think there must be some good reasons behind
this. Both have been available for several OSes, even DOS.
