I believe you are asking me to elaborate on my idea for including routines in
XyWrite /XyWin menus/dlgs that would pry embedded footnotes out of their "beds"
and dump them into files of their own.
I have an XPL routine that does this, and I imagine that most users who have to
do this kind of thing routinely do likewise. Basically you have to combine a
count routine with a program that defines and moves notes to an alternate
window. You go into expanded mode, search for the ≪FN1, define it, move it to
the alternate window, go back to the main file and put in an ≪MDSU≫1≪MDNM≫,
save the number 1 to, say, (SX99>, do the loop, resave SX99 as PV99+1, etc.,
etc.
It just seems like the kind of thing the developers would wish to routinely
include with the basic package. It would be a great selling point, I believe.
