MS Word Viewer + XY4

Many thanks toStephen A. Carter for his post on the availability of the 16 bit
MS Word Viewer. Like it or not, Word is what most of the world is running to,
at least at the moment, and I guess we have to deal with it.

The Viewer installed OK under WinOS2 (Warp 4, FP6), but with a quirk: When the
installer is done, you're instructed to go to DOS and run _MSRSTRT.EXE. In the
meantime, the installer is reporting that the installation did not complete,
even though the Viewer seems to work OK. Never ran into anything like that
before; typical MicroSoft nonsense.

In theory, you should be able to copy to the Win clipboard from the Viewer, and
then paste into a windowed XyWrite 4.017 DOS session (a reminder here that
Alt+Home toggles between full screen and window) so long as the Viewer's
clipboard is set to be shared with OS/2's. Simple text does indeed work, but if
you've got something long, or with special characters, Xy goes crazy and a mess
results. Turning VIDEO FASTPASTE off helps, but not much.

What seems to work is the following:

1. Copy from the Viewer, then Paste into Windows Write. (Pasting into OS/2's
EPM Editor doesn't work so well, for some reason, if the file is a long one.)

2. Save As "WORD DOS TEXT ONLY" to filename

3. CAll the filename in XY.

This gives a clean ASCII file, with special characters converted (the
troublesome true quotes rendered as inch marks, for example), preserves hard
returns where they should be but doesn't add them to the end of evey line, and
eliminates the top and bottom of file junk that some other formats produce.

This isn't too burdensome. But does anybody know of a way to do a good clean
paste directly into Xy where the document is long (say 30 pages or so) and has
stuff like true quotes? Any OS/2 settings tricks to be aware of?
