Well, you could, easily enough. Freedos (http://www.freedos.org)
will install to any partition, even boot from a usb stick if your bios
supports usb boots. Or it will share a partition with windows, although
not a ntfs one. Freedos even has network drivers, and works with fat32,
apparently.
