Xy4 Conversion Filters

Just thought you should know (or be reminded) that the program conver-
sion filters packaged with XY4 are deeply, seriously, horrendously
****'ed. Please see the enclosed sample files, by way of illustration. The
Source file for this test was approx. 10 pages long, and written in XY 3.55
(could _that_ be the decisive factor? @). From the menus, I converted it into
WORD 5.0 and WP51 formats. The former came out as a virtual monoblock (same
story in WORD 4.x format); the latter came out as a long vertical strand of
text that paginated to a whopping 262 pages!
I'm so glad I held onto the standalone WORD FOR WORD that you sold to
registered users of 3.5x some years back, at a very reasonable price! I think
it only goes up to WORD 4 and WP 4.2, but, strangely enough, those standalone
W4W conversions were nearly flawless. Maybe I should give MasterSoft a buzz --
if they're still around -- and see about updating the standalone program. If
you simply license the code though, I'm hard pressed to account for the
difference.
Some other program modules, such as the Dictionary and Thesaurus, have file
dates going back as far as 1987. Are those the latest versions you could get,
or is this just more corner cutting?
[@ Nope. Tried a pass in which I first imported the 3.5x file into
XY-4 format, then saved it as the WORD & WP51 formats. Exactly the
same.]
