As usually Carl is right. In my slow sistem (400Mhz), 2700 files in several
levels, it takes 3.07 seconds to do the huge archive (150k). Adding DX and
DO FF, only 1.88 seconds.
Its fast enough and rich in switches.
There are two points I dont understand --Carl certainly has his
reasons--:
1) why do you use BC WAIT
2) What's the efect of the MR command
Thanks for all
Francisco

That's what I thought, too, Francisco. It would take too long.
But, you know, I just tried a procedure like the one you describe on
a directory with 900+ files, and it was quite speedy. So I've
adopted it (see BIGDIR.PM, attached).
Lest there be any perplexity: Copy BIGDIR.PM to your XyWrite
program directory (the one that contains EDITOR.EXE), or to any
directory you choose. Launch XyWrite. CAll BIGDIR.PM (in
XyWrite!). Usage instructions are at the top of the file.
