Aha! you were right on the money about that piece of XLeNCODED text. All
attempts to copy it cause, not indeed a crash, but an illegal operation
message. Almost the exact same message in all cases:
Xy and Tbird both running, attempt to Clip XPLeNcoded test from Xy:

So it looks as if it is the contents, rather than the sheer size (for I've Clipped much larger blocks both ways, Xy to Tbird, Tbird to Xy) that's gumming up the works. Didn't you say there were some weirdnesses to Micro$ludge's attempts to implement a more cosmopolitan code page?

Will try the edited versions of Clip you suggested after lunch.

Once the Since (I gather) you have this problem only with Clipping, never with Pasting, let's do this:
Well, so far. As I said, this was the first time it happened since I got
the latest version of Clip. But before, with the earlier one, it would
happen when I was pasting FROM Tbird to the Windows ClipBoard to Xy
also. But I'll experiment with all your very helpful suggestions and see
what happens.
