As for having no idea where it is, I've been thinking of writing up

course.)
If by "record-keeping protocols" you mean keeping track of what I've
installed and what I've tweaked, bring it on. I had a major crash,
necessitating a new hard drive, about 6 weeks ago, and after screeching
for two weeks at robot techies at the company that rhymes with Tell, I
found myself spending an additional four weeks trying to figure out why
I couldn't open files: because I had to reinstall a whole slew of
programs. Just trying to remember what programs I used to have...I know
I'm still missing some.
At this stage, the tweaking is so fast and furious I can't imagine how
to keep track of what I've done. A desirable tweak to A seems to have
undesirable effects on X--or had I been fiddling with O just before
that when the phone rang?
So, if your protocol would help me retrace my steps to figure out what
I've done, I'd definitely love to see it.
Thanks
