Well, U2 has a good PostScript width table generator, and a PRiNter file
generator which interfaces with GhostScript and (for rendering the text)
GhostView -- both are available on major platforms. It works real well under OS/2.
Page numbers are written into the XyWrite output, so you can randomly view any
page in your document using GhostView. Additionally, I wrote a complete set of
corresponding frames for DOS/Windows, but I've never tested them (so they surely
need tweaks and fixes -- this is very much a work in progress, hence never
"announced").
Anyway, I'll dig into this in the Fall. But for the next three months, I'm
submitting to my own program of computer detoxification -- voluntarily! Withdrawal
is a joy.
