After one hundred fourteen fairly regular releases of
XyWWWeb.U2, there was a long hiatus of over one year. Today
we released v115, which is available at:
http://users.datarealm.com/xywwweb/
Like v114, version 115 uses a separate XyWWWeb.REG Registry
file to store user variables. Consequently, upgrading is a
snap. Just close XyWrite, replace the old XYWWWEB.U2 in
your Editor.EXE directory with this new version of U2, and
restart XyWrite. All done. Easy upgrading is the reason we
invented the REG file, and it works. If you haven't
converted to this new architecture (i.e. you're still using
v113 or lower), please take the time to establish a
XyWWWeb.REG user variable file, based on the template
provided in XYWEB115.ZIP (with serviceable defaults already
supplied for most variables). See REG-READ.ME in the ZIP
file for full information. The new programming is worth it,
and other rewards include a modicum of user support. Carl
and I will no longer assist users with earlier (pre-v114) U2
versions.
U2 v115 includes many new frames and facilities, some
dribbled out individually (and published on this maillist)
during the past year, others not. Numerous fixes as well.
Altogether, v115 contains over 700Kb of dense programming in
618 different routines.
Note one further change: the removal of some frames
in U2 to the DLG file, where they really belong, and where
they avail of services that only function in DLG, such as
the $0-$9 and $A-$Z functions or the many "proprietary"
frames (0g, 0m, 0t, etc). A new DLG is available at:
http://www.xywrite.com/xy4/xy4supp/xy4_dlg.zip
This DLG update includes bug fixes and new functionality,
with no deprecation of original "factory" services.
Regrettably, we have not prepared a list of new or changed
routines in U2. We hope to get a chance to do that (but no
promises). The main XyWWWeb webpage also stands in need of
revision; I've added some information about my new frames,
and Carl will be adding information pertinent to his new
routines shortly; but the whole thing could probably use a
revamp. Someday...
Have fun!
