Tame Pre-release 8

I've tried out Pre-release 8 of TameDOS with Xywrite and I think XyWriters
will be really pleased with the results. (Due to my own weird
cursor-movement key assignments, I have some small issues remaining, but
that won't apply to you).

The install is as easy as pie. You just download the program, accept the
agreement terms, and there's maybe one more "Ok" to hit and in two seconds
you're in business. You don't even have to re-boot.

If you have an earlier version of Tame installed, all you have to do is
rename the folder "C:\Program Files\Tame 5.1" to something else before you
install the new one. You don't even have to move any configuration files
from the old install.

There are some neat new features in regard to the display. For instance,
you can "pad" the window with a few extra pixels to give some "air" around
the edges (with the same colors you already have set up). I find it nice
that I can pad the Command Line with a little margin above the top line.
(Again, this margin appears in the same color as the Command Line itself,
so it doesn't look like a border but, rather, as an vertical extension of
the Command Line itself). The amount of padding can be set on a scale of 1
to 9.

As before, the "leading" can be set on the fly (Win key plus a number from
0 to 9) to give more inter-line space. Text size can be varied, as can
aspect ratio and screen length: 25, 38, 43, or 50 lines vertically. I use
50, which is nice.

By the way, set your font to Lucida Console: right click in the Xy text
area, then choose View/Text font.

Run don't walk to:

http://www.tamedos.com/downloads/downloads.htm

and click on Tame51pre8.exe, which is about 10 lines down in the main
yellow area.
