Okay, I found the problems re srch.pgm. They all have to do with key
assignments.
   1. the ES function call doesn't work for me (Xy4DOS 4.017), but just
entering the output of the esc key (a left arrow) does fine. What is the ES
function for, anyway?
   2. F9 didn't work because I use the stack pgm (by Carl and Robert, I
think) that puts &S on that key. But I tried entering the pfunc &S and it
worked to my surprise--I didn't know you could convert a pgm key assignment
to a function call.
   3. The arrow keys didn't work (save/gets 7 and 8) because I have LU and
GT,LD loaded on them (the GT I adopted years ago from someone... a way to
get down into the text area by cursor key).
   The CU vs. LU and CD vs. LD will vary with many users.
