Jordan,
While invalid entries in the registry do not have much bulk they can
cause the system to perform a lot of dead end lookups and setting up for
things that are not needed. It can also cause slow boot and shutdown
problems. Cutting down on bulky files that will never be reused is an
important factor in keeping the drive healthy; but keeping the registry
healthy is equally important.
If you car engine was misfiring and running rough, you would know
it. You could hear it and you could probably feel it, too. If software is
running, but running badly if often does not give the users any real
indication; it just raises the potential for things to go wrong. There is
really no substitute for a properly cleaned registry.

Jordan, I think this is the sort of thing you're looking for:
Scrub Your Hard Drive Clean!
(Fifteen files in all! Five batch files that can free up anywhere from tens
to thousands of megabytes of otherwise-wasted disk space; files that most
Windows-based cleanup apps miss! Also includes Registry patches that can add
or remove the cleanup functions to your Recycle Bin menu; and "Program
information Files" to ensure the batch files properly interact with your
system.
