I am very surprised to hear that x1 has retracted the free to
individuals model. I was rather interested in the product and the
company for some time and spoke to them quite a bit. I lost interest
because it seemed x1 was one of the hundred things bogging down my XP
installation. (It was probably more OS fatigue -- who knows -- but I
really did have to disable x1.)
When I first used x1 it could not index files without extensions.
They told me they would consider adding that feature. Maybe they did?
I am much more interested in the locate32 suggestion here, and
perhaps the Windows Commander. I think I'll try locate32 first. It's
so nice to have a system that's still state of the art and snappy.
How long before it starts crawling ? ? ?

I'm assuming that I should keep Vista's indexing off?
