Sheer supposition: Your verdict might be different if
you were a very graphically, icon-ographically
oriented person, not previously ingrained with the Win
way of doing things. (I'm not that person, either.
Plain text and Command Lines don't bother me at all,
but that's a minority position, for sure.)
But that's the thing with Mac OS and -- in other ways
-- with Linux: it's a very different design paradigm,
from top to bottom, and requires a substantial user
adjustment. And that's why I remain so enamored of
eComStation (nee OS/2): I was a DOS user for many
years, and it mostly "made sense" to me from the
gitgo. The GUI part of it I found to be at least as
accessible as any Windows I've ever used. And of
course, DOS programs like Xy 3 or 4 are a piece of
cake there, no TAME-like issues at all.
Much like the Knoppix distro of Linux, there is a
*free* self-contained demo CD available, for anyone
who may be curious. All you need is the ability to
burn an ISO image to CD, and a broadband connection to
make that size download practical. (Or, if necessary,
I'd be glad to send you a copy.)
