I am one of them, but I only work from, not into Japanese, and I
normally don't do checking jobs. I can, however, suggest a way of
finding somebody that you might relay to the person who wrote the
original message.

This will be distributed to a mailing list called Honyaku (and
possibly also to the mailing list of JAT, the Japan Association of
Translators). Between them, these lists have close to 1,000 members
working between Japanese and English. There are quite a number of UK-based
members as well. The above URL allows posting a note without having
to join the mailing lists.
