Grubbing about in Lexis/Nexis database to see what's new
in their thousands of references to Xywrite, I came across
this.

Inxight introduces new summarization software
BODY:
- Summarizer Plus allows users to abridge content from word processing, PDF,
spreadsheet and presentation graphics formats
Inxight Software, Inc., a Xerox New Enterprises company, today announced the
availability of Summarizer Plus, technology, which automatically and instantly
extracts key sentences from documents in a variety of file formats.
With Summarizer Plus, customers and partners can enhance their IT
applications to deliver real-time, indicative summaries of documents; users do
not have to have the original application to view a document. For example,
Summarizer Plus can convert any document to HTML, point to the necessary key
sentences and then create a relevant summary. The new Summarizer Plus will be
available late in October in eight languages: English, French, German, Spanish,
Portuguese, Dutch, Italian and Swedish.
Summarizer Plus includes the KEYView HTML Export filter from Verity, Inc.,
which enables Summarizer Plus users to view from all browsers and platforms
without additional client software.
Summarizer Plus summarizes documents from formats including HTML, PDF, and
various versions of Microsoft Word and Write, Text, Unicode, Lotus AmiPro and
WordPro, XyWrite for Windows and WordPerfect. The product is also compatible
with spreadsheets such as various versions of Corel Quattro Pro, Lotus,
Microsoft Excel and Works, and will also integrate with a number of presentation
graphic formats.
"With Summarizer Plus, users working from a corporate repository of
documents can receive summaries from a variety of different document formats,"
said Ian Hersey, director, advanced products, Inxight. "For example, a user in a
corporate environment can now extract important, relevant information from a
document created in WordPerfect without having the WordPerfect application."
Inxight's Summarizer Plus product extracts key sentences from online content
and delivers real-time indicative summaries for applications with high volumes
of text such as information retrieval, online content delivery or directories,
digital libraries, electronic publishing and file system management. The Inxight
software component is available for developers to integrate into their
applications.
