Andrew--An afterthought: If the PowerMac absolutely forces you to route DOS
port calls through the Mac side, you do have some print management options in
addition to Chooser. PrintCentral and PrintChoice reportedly offer control
over printers, drivers, prioritization, etc. If any of the three let you
specify PCL, your problem may be solved. Since the PrintCentral developer is
Adobe, of course it's expensive and it's probably pretty sophisticated.
PrintChoice is shareware. I know no details, but feel sure you could get
them, if not from other subscribers, from Mac newsgroups. 	--A
