Go back and get a fresh HPLJ-2.PRN from TTG from the Xy4 directory,
not Xy3. You've screwed something up in your copy. Compare them.
Make sure the PR spec points to the file location of LJ.BIN (which you
can also DL from TTG); it should say something like
"PR=G:\L\LJ.BIN,L2". If you want to see my copy of HPLJ-2.PRN, I'll
ship it. It has a bunch of handmade softfonts, perhaps similar to
those you describe, integrated into the FA and FP specs, and will show
you how to do that.
IMage mode printing is for inkjets, not lasers. Dump the IM=1 spec.
IM=0!
"@PJL ENTER LANGUAGE = PCL" comes from the HPLJ-4 PRiNter file, which
you shouldn't be using anyway. That's for a higher level of PCL than
the LJ2 understands. Dump it.
