Thanks for your feedback, Harry. I would change just one step in
your example. Instead of
> 5. Blank the command line and do: ca rkok.sav
I recommend:
5. Blank the command line and do: RKOK E
With the CAll command, you'd have to type the full path to rkok.sav
unless you happen to be logged on to the XyWrite program directory
(where rkok.sav is located). RKOK's (E)dit function opens rkok.sav
no matter what the current directory is. No fuss, no muss.
In other contexts, using RKOK E is critical. If rkok.sav is already
open, RKOK E takes you to that window AND immediately *updates* it
to show changes to the file made since it was opened. With CAll
you'd get the prompt "File is already open--open again?
(Y)es,(N)o,(G)o,(R)ead". The "logical" choice, (G)o, would simply
take you to the window without updating it, inviting you to edit and
SAve a superseded copy of the file. If you didn't happen to notice
the difference, recorded keystrokes would be lost.
RKOK frees you from thinking about such extraneous matters and
allows you to concentrate on the main event: the macro you're
creating.
