≪ I just don't understand the gravity of this 'unbidden Page-Line
toggle' complaint. ≫
Robert: I know. So your attention is all the more appreciated. The
Page-Line vs other-view information is enlightening but peripheral. The
particular view v4 changes to doesn't matter. What matters is that it
changes at all--that the change is *unbidden* and requires manual
resetting to the desired view. You write:
≪ And I certainly do NOT work on columnar documents in XP ≫
and this probably is the root of the misunderstanding. We who are having
the problem DO, and I for one feel no need to defend the methods I use
to write and edit. Of course I consult finished tables with a formatted
view.
≪ --you've mentioned that, what, three times now?--you impute a
certain insane fundamentalism to me which is fantasy. ≫
I didn't pull that out of thin air. Is your startup DT set at 0?
≪ For six years I've been maintaining a 300Kb XyWrite database with
1500 records and ten entries (columns) per record--a list of categories
of silva and flora in an arboretum that I manage. Fiddle with it at least
once/week. ≫
Interesting endeavor. As I indicated before, my tables are garden variety
(so to speak), not data bases so wide they overrun the screen.
≪ Can't remember that this document has *ever* toggled unbidden
into SP on a SEarch. ≫
Well, if you don't work on it in XP, I guess it wouldn't.
≪ Lacking carriage returns as they do, columnar docs are nearly
impossible to read in XP. ≫
Huh? I'm talking CT tables, not snaking columns (with which I have no
experience). Mine have returns like any other text. ... Ciao. --a
