A couple of days ago I received a flyer from Jasc Software (best known
for Paint Shop Pro, a reasonably priced alternative to Photoshop),
promoting a new product called Quick View Plus. Some selected quotes,
to be taken with appropriate grains of salt where necessary:
> Quick View Plus is the industry-leading file-viewing utility that
> offers unparalleled file format support for both business and home
> users....New Quick View Plus 5 was specially designed to meet the
> needs of consumers looking for tight Windows integration and the
> ability to view, copy, and print virtually any file.
>
> Quick View Plus joined the Jasc fold in October 1998, when Jasc
> signed an exclusive agreement with Inso Corporation, the developers
> of the award-winning file-viewing software. Inso provided Jasc with
> exclusive rights to distribute and market Quick View Plus to the
> retail and small office/home office (SOHO) markets in the United
> States and Canada.
Product can be obtained directly from Jasc or through the usual
retail, mail order, and Web order channels. Suggested retail is $59,
with a special $35 deal (direct from Jasc) through 5/31/99.

BTW, I have no vested interests here, other than being a long-time
satisfied user of Paint Shop Pro. I have found Jasc to be an OK outfit
that supports their product. Your mileage may vary.
As to the obfuscation of this product's true provenance -- maybe they're
just repeating what Inso told them. :-)
