Excuse to answer so late, and perhaps the others gave the solution but in
Win98SE you have the DOS command SORT that many times can do a good job: I
have just do a test with 40.000 lines ...
I supose you know how to use in XY3:
BC Dos /c sort orginal_file > sorted_fileXY
This goes to the DOS prompt, executes the sort command and returns to
your XY sesion.
Perhaps you need a sub-rutina to rename sorted_file into the name you
need.
Sort has options: see them in the command line with:
Sort /?
But Carls solution --to get a XY4 copy -- is the best!
