The one thing I have never understood about RAID [Redundant Array of
Inexpensive Disks] mirroring (not striping -- and I have never done either) is
the basic principle: if you have real time mirroring, and you screw up the
master drive, isn't the mirror drive identically screwed up? I.e. it sounds
great for drive _failure_, but what about a fundamentally-messed-up
need-to-reinstall situation? Seems to me that RAID mirroring must be useless
for that scenario, which is probably much more common than drive failure.
