Re: Tame 5.1

Wally,
Let me add that it's very nice to see italics, underline, and bold onscreen in Xy. Tame docs will explain how, to get this facility, you need to drag and drop a file onto an open document (weird, but it works).

I must admit that, in some major way, the tamedos operation seems to set a
new standard in lack of professionalism. The *complete* lack of real world
info/advice from the author as to what versions have been most successful
in the field, with respect to this program in particular (where there
seems to be endless chatter about which versions "work" and which don't),
seems like just an incredible amount of disrespect for the user's valuable
time. I guess it's nice to be in a market with no competition.
No, there's no rigor in the testing or revision of the program. It's a
one-man operation. A number of XyWriters have tinkered with the thing
across the years. It's the best third-party app we've found to resolve
keyboard and screen handling issues with XY and XP. I have not run XY on
Vista so I don't know how it does there. And, frankly, I'm using the
program less and less as Note Bene gets slowly, painfully better. At all
events, Harry has the most experience tinkering with TAMEDOS and I can
certainly throw in my two cents if you can't get it to work. I'm attaching
a copy of the main Xywrite/tame settings file which you should already
have in \Tame 5.1\Settings. It's XYWRite.app.tam, which I think is created
the first time you run TAMESDOS. The changes I made in this file work with
5.1 pre 7. You might rename your XYWRite.app.tam and run mine to see if
it works. I'm on an old DELL XP SP3 box.
