It's worth pointing out that you don't necessarily have to use your ISP's
mail services. You can use (and pay) the ISP for connectivity only, and
use (and pay) another vendor to provide outsourced email services.
If you don't mind a few dollars more per month for specialized email, this
is an option. One vendor that is really good (albeit a bit more expensive
than some) is Lux Scientiae, at www.luxsci.com. Their premium spam and
attachment filtering is provided by MX Logic and there isn't much that you
can't do with it.
A further advantage of outsourced email is that you can switch ISPs
without upsetting your email.
