Are you sure it's opsys and not hardware-related?
Because I seem to recall that other cases of
"full-screen" apps coming up in smaller windows were
related to the larger size and higher resolution of
modern monitors.
(I'm afraid I don't even install the card games on my
systems, so I don't know anything about them.)
Another possibly related oddity: Back on May 31 I
reported that on one (very underpowered) PC, I was able
not merely to switch directly from (windowed) draft or
expanded mode to Graphics, but then to keep the
Graphics view but put it into windowed mode. Well, that
box recently was upgraded to Win 2K, and that stunt no
longer works. In fact, when one tries to go to Graphics
mode (Func WZ, shift F8 on the out of the box
keyboard), one gets not merely the frozen screen that
others reported, but a blank one.
My theory--and I ALWAYS have a theory--is that this
system's graphics subsystem (Silicon Integrated
Graphics on-board VGA, with 16 Mb of the 256 Mb system
RAM shared) is so pathetic that Xy was able to do the
kind of direct write to hardware that it used to do
under real DOS. But W2K, with its more "ring-walled"
VDM, won't let it do that, and the whole thing fails.
Could something similar be affecting your Freecell?
