There's a work-around that's quite fine. It requires a bit more intelligence
than Win, but it may actually be more effective. Ziff-Davis (PC Magazine,
among others) published a program called BigBin a couple years ago. It
captures file deletions from DOS programs as well as Windows programs. If Xy4
auto backup is set to "on," BigBin will save the whole series of previous
versions *every time* you save a file. The part where you come in: you must
remember to save before any major operation (like reformatting the whole doc,
or doing a global replace). The Windows recycle bin maintains each former
version up to its pre-set capacity. The auto backup feature of XyWrite copies
the current file to a *.BAK file and *deletes* the former *.BAK file. Because
BigBin captures DOS deletes, you'll find your former *.BAK files neatly
archived in the recycle bin.
