For an up-and-running system, you'd probably want something like
Partition Magic to use to repartition your hard disk. Sixty bucks
or so, but it'll cut down on the agony, unless you ENJOY installing
software from scratch.
I'm just guessing here, so this may not be a real problem, but I've got a
strong hunch that XyWrite handles the hard disk through stock 1980s-vintage
MSDOS system calls, and will expect that partition to be near the front of
your hard drive (ie, under the 1024-cylinder limit).
You can't just tack on an extra FAT-16 partition, I'm saying, even
though Win2000 would make creating such a parition easy. If you've
got the space for another hard drive in your system, consider buying
one and setting it up with a Fat-16 partition -- it probably wouldn't
be much more expensive than buying Partition Magic.

Thanks---I'll try that. (On a first try, I can't see how to to it, but it
must
be there somewhere in the W2000 help system....)
(I guess you must know, but in case not, automatic substitution returned in
XyWrite IV---I agree it is absolutely essential...)
