Ahem, but if you are using AMD (as I do) then Intel is not a monopoly (a
term which is quite dubious anyway, unless restricted to
government-installed monopolies like the post office, or business under

So it sounds like your principle is: don't buy from very successful companies.

I prefer AMD CPUs because they are a little cheaper.

That's a formula for mediocrity.
I know games aren't the same as business, but consider that in golf "real
competition" is not shriveling due to the success of Tiger Woods. That's
what real "real competition" means: sometimes a more able producer (more
able as judged by people's freely chosen purchases) pulls way ahead.
