Re: Importing a Wordperfect 8 file in Xywrite

I save from WordPerfect Win 6.1 to XyWrite 3.55 sometimes.

I save from WordPerfect to ASCII probably every day. For me, it's easier to
save in ASCII and add the simple Xy formatting that I use.

My main problem is that a document using formatting that is simple in WP
will turn into a Xy document using formatting that is kludgy and
complicated in Xy, like 3 different IP codes on the same line. WP inserts
codes that I never use and don't even recognize.

It's actually easier to make XyWrite tables by creating them in WP and
exporting them. You *can* create tables in XyWrite 3.55, but it's so much
easier in WordPerfect 5.0 and later that I've always created my tables in WP.

There was a XyWrite filter in my WP6.1 disks, but it wasn't part of the
automatic installation, and I had to install it afterwards. I don't know if
they continued to include Xy filters in WP8. Hope so.

Wordperfect 8, and click Save As, it gives you three curious Xywrite
options. Save as Xywrite III Plus 3.55, Xywrite III Plus 3.56, or Xywrite
III Plus 4.0. (Well at least they have the option) Tables and graphics
will probably be a mess.
