   I may be a pessimist, but I suspect that it would be less of a
headache for you to make your index manually. You seem to have thought
the procedure through carefully, but there are a number of places where
things could go awry. And with indexes, things almost always go awry at
least two or three times. Part of your work will be manual anyway.

   I have to admit that I've never been able to get XyWrite (3+, at
least) to extract an index successfully (except for short, experimental
files) because the program limits itself to 640K of memory. The indexing
function is wonderful as a concept, but the execution left me underwhelmed
("out of memory" and a useless file of half-indexed terms). I'll be
interested to hear from some optimists among us, as I'm willing to try
again.
