I saw this as an apparently sober news item in a respectable computer
magazine, but on second thoughts am wondering if it could be a hoax.
Seems a bit much, even for Redmond, but here it is:
A Dept. of Defense study concluded the DOD was already using a lot of
Open Source software and should consider using more. Whereupon "the
Initiative for Software Choice--an industry group backed by Microsoft,
Cisco, and Intel--responded by questioning the report's premises and
warning the DOD away from `viral, restrictive' licenses like the GPL."
Yeah, right. M$ and its allies are all about choice, and its licenses are
models of generosity. Orwell, thou shouldst be living in this hour!
