First off, I wasn't speaking of XY coming to resemble emacs,
except in the fact that there are already HTML extensions for
emacs -- it has evolved, XY hasn't.

Emacs, Nathan, is absolutely THE most customizable editor in existance.
If you want those two different versions to work the same, change
them. Or one of them. I don't, however, use it so much on-line as
I do at home, running both an OS/2 PM version and a Linux
version, and soon, an Xwindows
Linux version. But you can do virtually anything with emacs that
you want, if you want to take the time to learn how.

I guess so -- Annie's tried, and hasn't come up with a really
workable solution, last I heard. And neither has TTG. But I'd
certainly be interested in seeing Annie's version.
