Actually, my practice in the 1 HDD, multi-OS model (or
2 HDDs, multi-OS, as in the Tower system) has always
been to take care of the Win stuff first, because Win
had the tendency to cause harm to anything non-Win
that was already present, other than DOS. DOS kept
the C:, and the W32 boot code also resided there (a
requirement), but anything else took logical
partitions and later drive designations. This was
with NT4, then W2K. I never used 98 on my own
systems, and have only done some brief experimentation
with XP on one HDD, which did not remain in that
system.
