Again, I may be missing something...
1. I thought XY3 prn files were able to use Postscript
2. The definitions shown in my post

> MD SU+CGTIMES8+SUPERSCRIPT

use the __scalable__ fonts included in ROM in the HP Laserjet 4L
and I have used other scalable fonts as well.
