oh dear - and I believe I have Vista auto-updating on.
But back to file searching - -
We have identified Locate32 and Windows Commander -- but do these
index file content or merely file names?
In the meantime, whilst looking for some www.sowsoft.com programs I
used to use, I came across this,
http://www.dtsearch.com/dtreviews.html
which purports to be the be-all and end-all of content search
utilities. Anybody have experience?
And on the subject of WINHELP from Patricia's Nasty Vista post, MS
now _does_ allow Winhelp to be installed.

I must say, on balance, that Vista seems to be an awfully amateurish system.
