Dear Carl
Thanks, and no problem if it is benign. I will keep a lookout for any
clues as to its origin. I tried to identify the source by searching for
the message in U2 and found three instances but could not proceed,
usefully, any further.
Best wishes
Paul

Paul,
Since installing U2 v 121 I am getting a regular status line message
'File exists' when working on a file. I have no idea what this means.
Can you shed any light on it?
I get that message myself from time to time; it comes and goes for no
apparent reason. It's annoying but otherwise benign, as far as I can
tell. I don't know yet what's causing it. If you can discern any pattern
or clue as to what's causing it, I'd be pleased to hear about it. In the
meantime, sorry for the bother. It started to appear, at irregular and
unpredictable intervals, roughly within the last three months, so I can
probably run it to ground by focusing on code revisions that I made
within that period.
