I think I'm coming in on the middle of this, but I've been using
Firefox for quite a while now and I'm often knee deep in PDFs
(academe, don't you know). One of my favorite (of quite a few)
extensions to Firefox (y'all know about extensions, don't ya?) is PDF
Download. See it here:
http://www.rabotat.org/firefox/. (Mozilla maintains a pretty nice
extensions website: https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/application=firefox
)
If anyone cares I'll post my list of useful Firefox extensions.

Why are you disillusioned with Firefox?
My understanding is that this new exploit
will not launch automatically in Firefox,
Nothing to do with "exploits"(but if you're talking about the WMF
disaster, what browser you're using is irrelevant; and there's NO
fix for 9x or Me). No, apart from GPF the thng that is bothering me
is that I cannot get it to display (as opposed to download) PDFs.
I've been all over the FFox site and MozillaZine, and no one seems
to know why it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Mind you, the
source of the problem is probably Adobe, whose libido dominandi is
on a par with M$'s (but at least Adobe writes reasonably decent code).
